The last time the Texans faced the Titans, rookie DeAndre Hopkins caught the game-winning touchdown, a three-yard pass from Matt Schaub, in overtime. Hopkins calls it the highlight of his season. While the season ended far differently than it began, Hopkins learned a lot from his rookie campaign.
"You just have to endure tough times and look forward for better days and just keep your head up," Hopkins said. "Being professional you come to your job every day, getting better no matter the circumstances, no matter what the record is. You have to keep the same mindset and just keep the pro mentality."
Andre Johnson was instrumental in developing that mentality and professionalism. Hopkins credits the All-Pro veteran receiver for his transition into the NFL.
"I couldn't even put it into really a couple of sentences how much I've learned from this guy," Hopkins said. "He's talked to me a lot on and off the field. Basically, he teaches by example. He's not going to sit there and give you a paragraph on what you should do. He's a great leader."
Hopkins recorded his best game of the season against the Tennessee in Week 2, with seven receptions for 117 yards and the touchdown. He caught three-consecutive passes in the fourth quarter for 64 yards. After Johnson left the game in the fourth quarter following a hit by Bernard Pollard, Hopkins added a 25-yard catch and the touchdown in overtime.
