DeepSlant WiR: Fridays, Forgetfulness, Giraffes

The DeepSlant WiR: Coach says, "It's Friday"
The DeepSlant Week In Review is not a figment of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is intentional but could be coincidental, depending on how much time I have to write it.

The adrenaline was enough to get through the week. Or so I thought until this happened on Friday.

There's only one way to explain this.
Total. Brain. Lapse.
And it's Friday.
(Dory)
I'll tell you what happened. I had a fantastic idea for this very Week In Review come to me right in the middle of the press conference. But then, like a fleeting dream, I lost it with one exception– oh yeah, I was asking a question IN THE MIDDLE OF A LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE.
Listen, I'm totally fine making fun of myself. If it were Drew or Marc or John Harris, I totally would make fun of all of them too. It happens but I'll just make lemonade (or another Week In Review) out of it all.
For now, I'll blame lack of sleep. But I take solace in knowing I'm not the only one having brain lapses.

Which is worse - losing your memory or losing your ear? Some rookies visited the Houston Zoo on Tuesday to hang out with some kids and nearly get eaten by giraffes.

So in the end, my brain lapse actually inspired my entire Week In Review which was a blank page up until the very moment I came up with the spectacular idea that I forgot! But it's ok.
Like Coach says, "It's Friday!"

I'll tell you what happened. I had a fantastic idea for this very column come to me at that exact moment. That is, until I forgot it and my question and also probably who I was or where or why. It was just like waking up and trying to remember a really amazing, fleeting dream - with one exception: I was asking a question IN THE MIDDLE OF A LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE.

The bad news is I forgot my idea for the DeepSlant Week In Review. The good news is, the forgetting became my new idea.

!

For now, I'll blame lack of sleep after covering a game and writing until the wee hours of Monday morning. But I take solace in knowing I'm not the only one having brain lapses.

Since we didn't get eaten by giraffes and the memory lapse inspired another DeepSlant Week In Review and all deadlines were effectively met, it's been a pretty good week. Plus, we are headed for back-to-back primetime games, this time on Monday Night Football to face the Denver Broncos.

Like Coach said, "It's Friday!" Now do the Lamar Miller touchdown dance.

Until next week!
