Ed Reed draws parallel between Texans, 2012 Ravens

Ed Reed is familiar with the adversity facing the Texans. After Sunday's 34-3 loss in San Francisco, it feels a lot like what he experienced as a Baltimore Raven last year.

"I told these guys after we played Baltimore this year, it felt like the same situation," Reed said. "I'm just on the other side. So we knew that we were going to grow through that situation and we know now that we are going to grow through this situation."

Houston defeated Baltimore 43-13 in a blowout win last season. Despite the devastating loss to Houston, Reed and his teammates never faltered on their road to a championship. There would be more struggles too, as the Ravens would also lose four of their last five games of the season before eventually winning Super Bowl XLVII.

Reed would not change anything about his championship season, hard-fought after a season of ups and downs. He spoke with Matt Schaub about the struggles that Joe Flacco went through in Baltimore and hopes the Texans can also come out of their losses even stronger.

"I had the conversation with Danieal Manning and really talked to Matt too," Reed said. "You have to go through suffering. You have to go through something to accomplish the goal that you set out to accomplish. It's not going to be an easy road and we learn from it. This is something you can learn from and grow from."
