Fan Spotlight

Hello again Texans fans. Still basking in the glow of the victory over the Titans? Me too, but it's time to start thinking about the Jets and the possibility of evening our record at 6-6. That would be totally sweet, as Steve McKinney would say.

This weekend I'll be doing a lot of thinking about the Jets, but instead of writing about the state of the team or the game on Sunday, I thought it was time once again for a little change of pace. It's time once again to recognize one of our own.

You may have seen TEXANMANat training camp practices or at games. Most recently,TEXANMANwas a finalist in the Texans Ultimate Fan Competition.TEXANMANis obviously a die-hard Texans fan and recently I had the opportunity to ask him a few questions:

Where do you call home, TEXANMAN?**

As TEXANMAN, my home is Reliant Stadium. But as for my alter-ego….my home is in Clear Lake, Texas.

What's your occupation?

Ultimate Fan /Graphic Designer

Which team did you root for before the Texans?

Was there any other team before the Texans?

How long have you been a NFL fan?

Ever since I was 7 years old.

How did you become TEXANMAN?

Because of my love for the organization, the team and its fans, I developed TEXANMAN during the Ultimate Fan Contest in 2003. TEXANMAN exists to reach out to the fans and to help make the game day experience fun and enjoyable to young and old alike.

What has been your favorite Texans moment?

The day I knew we had been given the final franchise in the NFL ahead of L.A.

Who's your favorite player?

J.J. Moses, because other than myself, he is the only Texan who can really FLY down the field.

Do you have any game day rituals you'd like to share?

When I attend a home game I walk about the stadium greeting fans and giving away my trading card to kids and adults alike. As a kid I always dreamed of being a part of the NFL…and as TEXANMAN it is a way God has provided for me to be a small part.  After the game I return home to my normal everyday life as a mild mannered Graphic Designer.

So where could we find you when you're not at Texans games?

Spending time with my family; sons Brandon, Andrew and Austin (one-year old Austin's alter-ego is TEXANBOY), daughter Cami, wife Tiffany and baby #5 on the way in April. I also have a great extended family with my parents, siblings and many nephews and nieces. We all enjoy doing music together, laughing together and a little "healthy" competition. We have an annual family ball game we call "The Christmas Bowl" where we suit up five teams in replica jerseys and we even have refs (and of course we have jerseys for a team of TEXANS!). We play for the coveted title of "Christmas Bowl Champions" (there is even a tacky trophy – painted silver with Christmas lights). We also have a "Christmas Bowl MVP" selected by the refs for the player who contributes the most to their team and exhibits good sportsmanship.

If you had the opportunity to say one thing to owner Bob McNair what would it be?
I would ask, "Are you hiring any Graphic Designers?" (Talk about my dream job!)

Other than that I would say….It is such an honor to be, in my own way, a part of all that is the HOUSTON TEXANS.

Thanks TEXANMAN, we'll see you at the game.
