Texans defensive end J.J. Watt wore a Craig Biggio jersey at Reliant Stadium on Wednesday, showing support for the former Houston Astros second baseman's candidacy for the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Biggio, who had 3,060 career hits, came up 39 votes shy of making it into the Hall on Wednesday. He received 68.2 of the vote from the Baseball Writers Association of America, more than any other player this year but not enough to meet the 75 percent threshold for induction.

"Hall of Famer in my book, man," said Watt after being asked about the Biggio jersey at his weekly press conference. "I wish he would've gotten it. I think it would be really cool. Heck of a ball player, and he deserved it."

Biggio, who played for the Astros for his entire 20-season career, was on the ballot for the first time. He had 291 career home runs, 1,175 RBIs, 414 stolen bases and a .281 batting average. He was a seven-time all-star and four-time Gold Glove winner.
