Johnathan Grimes keeps TD ball for his dad

Johnathan Grimes kept a game souvenir for his dad. After his first-career NFL score, Grimes asked the referee could keep the ball he carried over the goal line.

"I told him, 'Usually I hand it to you but I want to keep this one. It's my first one. I want to bring it home to my Pop,'" Grimes said.

Grimes scored on a 3-yard play to cap Houston's opening drive. The game ended in a 16-10 loss for the Texans but Grimes emerged as a bright spot, gaining 126 yards from the line of scrimmage. In the final game of the 2013 season, Grimes recorded his first NFL start at running back.

"It felt good to get a start like that," Grimes said. "I just wanted to do whatever I could to help the team."
Grimes led the offense in both rushing and receiving yards. He had 16 carries for 50 yards and caught 6-of-6 for 76 yards receiving.
