O'Brien praises Texans home-field advantage

For the Texans, there's no place like home.

"I think one of the things that is key for us is our home crowd, our home field," head coach Bill O'Brien said Tuesday at the Annual League Meeting. "We are pretty good at home. We need to continue to do that. We need to be even better at home. We have great fans. We have a home-field advantage, I think, and that's a key. I think if you win your home games, that's a huge key to having a successful season. If you aren't winning at home, that's tough because it's very difficult to win on the road. We have to continue to win at home."

Under O'Brien, the Texans finished with an impressive 7-1 record at home last season, setting a single-season franchise record. It also tied a league-best home performance with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks.

The Texans have sold out 154 consecutive games at NRG Stadium, a Houston NFL record. Their 15 consecutive sold-out seasons represent the longest sellout streak of any professional sports team in Houston history. NRG Stadium has also been consistently recognized for having the best tailgating atmosphere in the NFL.

"We're making sure that from when somebody parks their car to when they walk in, buy their hot dog and leave, the whole experience has to be great, plus the entertainment at halftime, pregame, really just focusing on the little details and doing that better each week," Texans Senior Vice President of Ticketing and Event Management John Schriever said in an interview with Texans Radio. "That's really what we focus on."

Houston's 2017 home schedule includes the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, and division rivals Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans.
