Osweiler to Hopkins connection growing at camp

The connection grew stronger on Monday.

DeAndre Hopkins returned to training camp and caught passes from quarterback Brock Osweiler. According to the Pro Bowl wide receiver, their chemistry is improving.

"It's getting better," Hopkins said. "From where we started to where we are now, we've come a long way. Caught a couple touchdowns out here."

After Osweiler signed his free agent deal with the Texans on March 10, he quickly got in touch with Hopkins. Within weeks, the duo was in Tempe, Arizona working out with teammates Tom Savage, Cecil

Shorts, III, Jaelen Strong, Keith Mumphrey and Robert Nelson. Those initial reps together laid a solid foundation.

"Having 'Hop out there with Brock is always a good thing to see," head coach Bill O'Brien said.

Monday at camp, Osweiler said he and Hopkins had some "learning experiences". The Texans' new signal-caller is glad the fourth-year pro was back at work.

"He's a tremendous player, and he really makes my job easy," Osweiler said. "I just gotta throw it in his direction and he makes me look good."

Osweiler, Hopkins and the Texans practice again on Tuesday morning at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
