The six-time All-Pro Shane Lechler completed a 10-yard pass to rookie Alfred Blue during Houston's first offensive series out of punt formation. It was the first pass completion by a punter in Texans franchise history.
Lechler, who played quarterback at East Bernard High School, has completed three passes during his NFL career. The previous one was on November 4, 2012, while with the Oakland Raiders. Matt Turk attempted Houston's previous pass attempt by a punter, an incompletion, on December 1, 2008 at Jacksonville.
