Starter Brandon Brooks back on active roster

The Texans offensive line is reinforced with Brandon Brooks returning to the lineup this week.

Brooks took part in individual drills in Tuesday's joint practice with the Denver Broncos.

"It's always good to get everybody who's  been on the shelf a little bit back healthy and Brandon is no exception," O'Brien said after practice. "He's played a lot of football here in Houston. Came back with a little injury and he's working his way through it and it was good to see him out here today."

The starting right guard passed his physical and was placed on the active roster on Tuesday. Brooks participated in all offseason workouts and OTAs with the team but landed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list before the start of training camp with an undisclosed injury.

The team will hold two more joint practices with the Broncos, including one with full pads on Wednesday.

The addition of Brooks impacts the Texans unofficial depth chart for Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos (kickoff 8 p.m. CT, KTRK ABC-13, SportsRadio 610) released Monday. It currently lists rookie Xavier Su'a-Filo as the starter at right guard.

According to head coach Bill O'Brien, Brooks' status for Saturday's game is yet to be determined.

"We're working toward that, and he's got a lot to do to catch up," O'Brien said Sunday.
