Swearinger hoping to play Sunday

D.J. Swearinger says he will do what it takes to be ready for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

"I'm feeling good,"Swearinger said Wednesday. "We'll take it day-to-day and we're going to be ready for Sunday."

The second-year safety hyperextended his left elbow when he collided with Brian Cushing during the Texans 30-14 win in Oakland.

Swearinger was wearing elbow brace, slightly more high-tech than the one J.J. Watt wears, on Wednesday in the locker room. The safety wasn't bothered about having to play with it, if necessary.

"Yes, it limits (mobility) to a certain extent but I'll be ready," he said.

Swearinger left in the third quarter of Sunday's game and did not return. He finished with three tackles, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery against the Raiders.

Houston (2-0) will face the New York Giants (0-2) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT (CBS KHOU-11, SportsRadio 610).
