T.J. Yates and Case Keenum splitting time in practice

T.J. Yates and Case Keenum both practiced with the starters on Wednesday. The starting quarterback decision is up in the air while starter Matt Schaub recovers from a lower leg injury suffered in Sunday's game. In the meantime, Yates and Keenum will split reps in practice. Afterwards, Kubiak said both had a good practice.

"I believe in both of them," Kubiak said. "I think they both move. They both understand our offense. I've got to see what I think is best for our football team. That's what I do."

There's a chance, though, that Schaub could start at Kansas City this Sunday. He rolled his ankle while being sacked in the third quarter of Sunday's 38-13 loss to the Rams. Schaub did not return to the game.

"I'm going to sit down and talk with the doctors today," Kubiak said. "We had some other guys come out and look at it today. He is swollen, very sore. He came out and watched practice. He was not a part of the meetings this morning. Had him with the doctors and rehab."

Yates played in the fourth quarter of the Texans' last two games against San Francisco and St. Louis.

"We're going to run our offense," Kubiak said. "They work with what we do. We're going to do what we do. Obviously, you look at certain things you think that one guy may do best or this and that. You've got to put a plan together first to attack the defense and go from there." *Twitter.com/DeepSlant*
