Texans dominate in 57-14 win over Titans

The Texans dominated the Titans on Sunday, capturing a 57-14 win at NRG Stadium, the most points scored in a game in Texans franchise history.

In his first start at NRG Stadium, Deshaun Watson threw four touchdown passes, completing 25-of-34 passes for 283 yards, and putting up a 125.0 passer rating. Watson also rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown. Lamar Miller recorded 131 yards from scrimmage (75 rushing, 56 passing) and scored two touchdowns. Will Fuller V also scored two touchdowns in his first game of the 2017 season. DeAndre Hopkins caught a team-high ten passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. Ka'imi Fairbairn was 3-of-3 on field goals, including a career-high 50-yard kick.

Marcus Mariota started the game but did not return after halftime due to a hamstring injury. Matt Cassel took over for the Titans offense in the second half. The Texans defense recorded four interceptions and one forced fumble. Andre Hal picked off Mariota twice. In the fourth quarter, Dylan Cole scored on a pick-six while Jadeveon Clowney recorded a strip sack.

Houston's defense forced its first turnover on the Titans opening drive when Hal picked off Marcus Mariota. Watson and the offense took over at the Tennessee 43-yard line. Bruce Ellington's 35-yard catch extended the drive which ended in a 2-yard touchdown run by Lamar Miller.

When the defense forced a three-and-out on back-to-back consecutive drives, Houston's offense capitalized. Watson threw touchdown passes to DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V to cap off two 76-yard drives.
Mariota gave the Titans their first score of the day on a 35-yard touchdown run. The Titans trailed 21-7 with 11:44 left in the second quarter.

Ka'imi Fairbairn's 50-yard field goal capped off a 12-play, 43-yard drive and pushed the Texans out to a 24-7 lead.

The Titans responded with their second touchdown of the day with Mariota's two-yard score.

On the ensuing kickoff, undrafted rookie Chris Thompson added a 42-yard return. A defensive pass interference call gave Houston possession at the one-yard line. Watson rushed for the score just one play later. Houston took a 30-14 lead heading into halftime.

Watson threw two more touchdowns in the second half. Both Fuller and Miller caught touchdown passes from the rookie quarterback. Fairbairn added two more field goals in the fourth quarter, from 40 and 33 yards respectively.

Dylan Cole scored on a 25-yard defensive touchdown after intercepting Cassel to give the Texans a 54-14 lead. Tom Savage entered the game after a strip-sack by Clowney with 6:03 left in the game.

The Texans recorded 445 net yards of offense and converted 33 first downs in the win.

Houston improves to 2-2 on the season and will next host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 5.
