Texans fall 13-0 to Saints in preseason

The Houston Texans fell 13-0 to the New Orleans Saints on Saturday night in their Week 3 preseason game.

The trio of Texans quarterbacks were unable to put together scoring drives in the loss. The Texans forced a turnover deep in Saints territory with 2:47 left in the game, but were unable to convert it into points.

Tom Savage played the first four series of the game before exiting. Savage completed 10-of-16 passes for 79 yards. With Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman out with injuries, the Texans running backs rushed for just 57 yards on the night. Tight end Rashaun Allen had a team-high 34 yards receiving.

Deshaun Watson entered the game with 3:45 left in the second quarter. Watson finished the night 11-of-21 for 116 yards, and threw one interception. DeAndre Hopkins, who took over with 9:00 left in the game, finished 2-of-5 for 16 yards.

The Texans defense held Drew Brees to just one field goal drive. Brees completed 11-of-15 for 76 yards. J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney played just one series before exiting the game. Eric Lee recorded two sacks, with Rickey Hatley adding one. Linebacker Shakeel Rashad forced a fumble.

Darius Victor scored on a three-yard touchdown run to give the Saints a 10-0 lead with 3:07 left in the third quarter. Quarterback Chase Daniel orchestrated the 10-play, 84-yard touchdown drive for the Saints. Saints kicker Wil Lutz was 2-for-2 on field goals, successfully making kicks from 26 and 48 yards, respectively.

The Texans will face the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the preseason on Thursday night.
