Texans host charitable food drive

HOUSTON – **The Houston Texans Foundation along with the Houston Food Bank and Souper Bowl of Caring will host a charitable food drive on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. prior to the Texans game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs at Reliant Stadium.  The Houston Food Bank will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items while Souper Bowl of Caring will collect cash donations to benefit the two organizations.  There will be six manned collection areas set up at the four main gates of Reliant Stadium (Gallery Furniture, Ford, Coca-Cola, Miller Lite) and the east and west side VIP entrances.

WHEN:Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 – collecting from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

WHERE: Reliant Stadium – outside the four main entrances (Gallery Furniture, Ford, Coca-Cola, Miller Lite) east and west side VIP entrances.

One hundred percent of the food, essentials and cash collected during the drive will be distributed to individuals who would otherwise be hungry this holiday season.

"The Houston Food Bank is grateful to the Texans for giving fans an opportunity to help their neighbors during the holiday season," Houston Food Bank President and CEO Brian Greene said.* * "With generous support from donors and volunteers, the food bank can work year-round to lead the fight on hunger."

The Houston Food Bank feeds the hungry by distributing food through more than 400 hunger relief programs in the greater Houston area. The programs can provide food to nearly 250,000 people every month as a result. Gifts may be made on the Houston Food Bank website at http://houstonfoodbank.org/donations/index.htm.

Souper Bowl of Caring inspires and mobilizes youth to use Super Bowl Sunday to fight hunger and poverty. This national movement of caring has generated $28 million for hungry and hurting people.
