Texans return game up in the air

Houston's starting kick returner and punt returner have yet to be determined for Sunday's game at Dallas.

When asked what would help him in his decision, head coach Bill O'Brien's answer was simple.

"Practice," he said.

In Sunday's 23-17 win over Buffalo, Damaris Johnson, Danieal Manning, Keshawn Martin were all involved in the Texans return game. In the fourth quarter, Manning returned his first and only kickoff of the year for 41 yards.

Through the first four weeks of 2014, Johnson has fielded nine punts, averaging 6.0 yards per return. He has also returned four of the Texans five kickoffs for an average of 23.5 yards per attempt. Martin, who was expected to be the return man heading into the season, has fielded three punts with one fair catch.

The decision to use multiple players in the return game last week was all part of the game plan, according to O'Brien.

"Nothing changed in the game," O'Brien said. "It was just what we decided to do."

The Texans will kickoff against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 12 p.m. on CBS/KHOU-11 and SportsRadio 610.
