The Houston Texans and Whataburger partnered up in the fight against hunger to provide much-needed funds to support the nearly 1.1 million food insecure people in the Houston Community.

On Tuesday, the Texans and Whataburger donated $142,407 to the Houston Food Bank, following their fifth-annual Hunger Action Month fundraiser. Texans Legend Cecil Shorts III, the Houston Texans Cheerleaders and Whataburger volunteers distributed groceries and fresh produce to those in need via a drive-thru food pantry. Whataburger also handed out individually-wrapped breakfast to all attendees at the socially-distanced event.

Through the month of October, fans were also encouraged to donate $1 or more to the Houston Food Bank from any of the 146 Houston-area Whataburger locations. Whataburger provided coupons for a free burger with purchase for each donation received.

The money raised by the generosity of the Houston community will provide 427,221 meals for children and families in Southeast Texas counties, bringing the five-year fundraising total to nearly $706,000.
