Texas Bowl update


Week 12 for the Texas Bowl participating conferences confirmed how unpredictable college football is this season.  The unexpected victories make it nearly impossible to foretell which teams will be competing in the inaugural Texas Bowl.  With the regular season quickly coming to an end, both the Big East and Big 12 conferences are gaining an enormous amount of attention across the country.   The one thing that now seems certain is that the Big East representative will come from either Rutgers,

.  Bowl selections will be announced on December 3.

All eyes were on the Big East Conference last Saturday when

, 31-8, on November 18, and the Cardinals will travel to Pitt next Saturday.

In local college football news, the

23-20 in overtime, assuring the Cougars of playing at home in the Conference USA championship game.

Rice defeated

on Saturday by kicking a 40-yard field goal in the last three seconds, giving them a (6-5) record.  The Owls have won five straight games for the first time since 1999 and is bowl eligible for the first time since 2001. The Owls haven't been to a bowl game since the 1961 Bluebonnet Bowl.

The Big 12 and Big East Conferences now have 15 teams combined that are bowl eligible.  The Texas Bowl is on its way to becoming the newest
