Tom Savage had a special visitor at Saturday's game who may be a good luck charm for the starting quarterback.
Born shortly after the Texans 2016 season ended, his daughter Summer Rose had not seen her dad play until Saturday's preseason win over the New England Patriots.
"It was awesome," Savage said Monday. "It was obviously her first game out there. Offensively, we did well and it was good to go out there and get a win with the guys and just execute and move the ball."
Savage completed all but one pass, going 8-of-9 for 98 yards, one touchdown and a passer rating of 149.1 in the 27-23 win over the Patriots.
To cap off his daughter's first day of training camp at the Houston Methodist Training Center, Savage conducted his post-practice press conference holding the baby. The Texans starting quarterback said that becoming father has been a life-changing experience.
"Just puts everything in perspective," Savage said. "She's the best little baby in the world and I just want to do everything for her."
The Texans will travel to New Orleans this week to face the Saints in a joint practice. The two teams play each other on Saturday for the third preseason game.
