Vince Wilfork: "We're all very close"

Vince Wilfork is ready to have some fun.

Despite the Texans' 0-2 start to the season, Wilfork remains optimistic that the team is close to turning things around. With Jadeveon Clowney preparing for this third start, J.J. Watt and company, Wilfork says there are plenty of players that are poised to make impact plays.

"We're all very close," Wilfork said Wednesday. "When you have a guy like that and J.J. (Watt) on the other side, let me tell you. Once we execute and once we get it going, it's going to be fun. I'll tell you that. Sometimes it takes longer to get there."

Missed opportunities and inconsistency have been roadblocks to getting Houston's first win of the season. The Texans have much more to offer than what they've shown so far this season, according to the two-time Super Bowl winner.

Both Watt and Wilfork expressed the urgency to get back to the Texans' brand of football this week. The team had a good week of practice and accomplished some things, Wilfork said. Now is the time to translate it to the games.

"When it happens and once we understand who we are and how we need to play and the confidence level we will get, I'm telling you, we're going to be a very special unit," Wilfork said. "I can't wait for that. Hopefully, that happens this week. That's our goal."

The Texans will host Tampa Bay on Sunday in their Week 3 matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on FOX-26 and SportsRadio 610.
