What's next on the field: Offseason Workout dates reminder

DATES

Some Texans will get as many as 11 on-field workouts in between May 10 and June 6.

The team will have a two-day rookie minicamp on Friday May 10 and 11. For Head Coach DeMeco Ryans, getting to coach his squad on the field is a welcome change from his time spent evaluating NFL Draft prospects.

"I'm excited that we got the guys we got and we're moving forward," Ryans said. "Now we can get on the field, get outside. That's what I'm excited about, getting outside, getting some sun, coaching on the grass. I'm definitely looking forward to that moment."

Following the NFL Draft on Saturday, Executive Vice President/General Manager Nick Caserio also shared his enthusiasm about the month ahead for the Texans on the practice fields at the Houston Methodist Training Center.

"We're excited with where the team is," Caserio said. "Excited with the players that are going to come in here in a few weeks. It's football season."

On Monday May 20, the rookies will join the veterans for Organized Team Activities (OTAs), with a workout on the next day, followed by another on Thursday, May 23.

Three consecutive days of OTAs happen the week after, starting on Wednesday, May 29.

The 3-day mandatory minicamp wraps up the offseason program, June 4-6.

After that, the Texans won't return to the practice fields until Training Camp begins in mid-July.
