Got a question about the Texans?
Life in general?
Drew Dougherty's your guy.
He's been with the Texans since 2009 and is chock full of meaningful, as well as generally useless, information. Fire away by clicking
HERE.

*Juan Garza: Dear Drew, I believe the Texans should draft a wide receiver with their first pick, and are going to do so. Who do you think that will be? *DD: Thanks for the question, Juan. We'll see what the Texans do with their first pick. I don't think it'll be a receiver. But IF…they were to use it on a wide receiver, and that's a big if, there are many options. But the name most-linked to the Texans has been Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka. He's been a popular pick for Houston in a variety of mock drafts this spring. The Buckeye was consistently productive in college, and overlapped for two years with Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud. In 2022, Egbuka caught 74 passes for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns. Stroud's a big fan, calling Egbuka a "brother for life" and someone primed to make an impact on Day 1, wherever that may be.

"He's not going to have any problem adjusting," Stroud said. "I think he's going to be a long-time vet, just somebody who is going to make a lot of plays, reliable, going to block, going to do everything that you ask him to do, but first, he's going to be a leader."

Arland Metzger: Dear Drew, Why don't the Texans get a really hard-nosed offensive line coach?
DD: Who said Cole Popovich isn't "hard-nosed"? He's in his first year as the team's o-line coach, and by all accounts, is "hard-nosed". He was a 4-year starter at left guard for Fresno State 20 years ago. He coached in college for five years, and spent the better part of the last decade coaching in the NFL at New England and here in Houston.

"Hard-nosed" aside, the Texans are focused more on improving pass protection around Stroud, no matter the way that happens.

Stephen Dougherty: Hi Drew with the great last name. My daughter got me a cap from Dougherty, OK pop 205. I am really worried the OL will be even worse than last year. Anything you can do to reassure me?
DD: Great last name, Stephen. I think the o-line will be better. The Texans have added a lot of veterans, will likely add some more help this weekend with the Draft, and the coaching of Popovich in union with the new system implemented by Offensive Coordinator should help the Texans line play better than it did in 2024. Stroud was sacked 52 times last year.

James Garcia: Dear Drew, With the start of OTAs and mostly everyone back in the building, who didn't show up?
DD: The team doesn't release who did or did not show up, but Stroud and defensive end Will Anderson, Jr. spoke with the media yesterday, while safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, defensive back Jalen Pitre and offensive lineman Cam Robinson did so today. This Instagram post showed videos of several other key veterans entering the building as well, so it looked like all the key players were on hand for the voluntary work.

Pete Galvan: Dear Drew, How many times are we going to wear the H-Town alternate uniforms this season?
DD: The team will announce the exact number later this year, but teams can wear alternate or throwback uniforms a maximum of four times in 2025. The Texans have Battle Red unis, as well as the H-Town ones.
