Draft slots, the number 80, tickets and more | Dear Drew

Got a question about the Texans? Life in general? Drew Dougherty's your guy. He's been with the Texans since 2009 and is chock full of meaningful, as well as generally useless, information. Fire away by clicking HERE!

Ami Pollak: Dear Drew, Are the Texans gunning for a good spot in the draft next year? Or are we still trying to climb the ranks?
DD: The Texans are gunning for their fifth victory of the season. Win or lose this Sunday against the Titans, the Texans are picking high in the NFL Draft. They're currently in the third overall slot, and a win would only drop them to fifth overall.

Mike Henry: Dear Drew, Will Rex Burkhead be back next season?
DD: The Texans have liked who he is and what he's done this year. Burkhead is an unrestricted free agent after the season, so we'll see if he comes back.

The veteran running back had a career-best performance two weeks ago in the win over the Chargers. He went off for 149 yards on 22 carries, with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Since Week 11 at Tennessee, he's averaged just over 17 touches per contest, and throughout the season, has been a willing blocker in pass protection.

John Olthoff: Dear Drew, What do you think will happen 2022 NFL Draft? Do we trade back for picks or take #3 and who do we take?
DD: The Texans aren't necessarily picking third in the Draft. They could drop as low as fifth if they were to beat the Titans this weekend. Regardless of where their first pick is, I don't see them moving back from it. It's still pretty early on in the process, but I think they'll use their pick on the best player available. It would most likely be used on defensive help or an offensive lineman. Currently, they have nine picks in 2022. There's a selection in every round, but the fifth, and they have an extra third-rounder, as well as two extra sixth-rounders.

Wesley Joyner: Dear Drew, Why haven't the Houston Texans officially retired No. 80?
DD: It kind of is. Nobody's been issued the number 80 since he left in free agency in 2015. Johnson, who was named a Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist last week, signed a one-day deal with Houston to officially retire as a Texan in 2017. He'll find out if he makes the Hall on Thursday, February 10 at 8 p.m. CT.

It wouldn't surprise me if 80 gets retired, though, in the years to come.

Bianca Castillo: Dear Drew, How can I get some tickets to the Texans Draft Party?
DD: The club hasn't announced where and when the Draft Party will be, but we'll definitely have that info up on HoustonTexans.com, the Houston Texans Mobile App and all of our social media channels in the coming months. From what I hear, there are talks of moving the party from NRG Stadium to an off-site venue.

Watch the Houston Texans take on the Tennessee Titans at NRG Stadium on January 9. Kickoff is at noon. Click here for tickets.
