The Houston Texans 2017 regular season schedule features four primetime games in Weeks 2, 5, 12 and 16.

Bill O'Brien kicks off his fourth season as the Texans head coach with a season-opening matchup at home against the Jaguars on Sept. 10. The Texans have never lost to Jacksonville under O'Brien (6-0) and are 11-4 all-time against the Jaguars at NRG Stadium. The Texans are 9-6 all-time in their first matchup of the season including 7-4 when opening at home.

In Week 2, the Texans will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on Thursday, Sept. 14 in a game that will be broadcast on NFL Network. The Texans have won five of the last six regular season meetings with the Bengals, including a 12-10 victory in Week 16 last year that clinched the AFC South title.

Week 5 will feature a matchup between the Texans and Chiefs at home on Sunday, Oct. 8 on NBC's Sunday Night Football. Houston defeated Kansas City, 19-12, at home in Week 2 last season. This will be the third consecutive year the Chiefs travel to NRG Stadium.

The Texans are scheduled to play twice on Monday in 2017. In Week 12, Houston travels to Baltimore to take on the Ravens as part of ESPN's Monday Night Football on Nov. 27. Then in Week 16, the Texans will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day in a game that will be broadcast on NBC, NFL Network and live-streamed on Amazon. 

The Texans take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots on Sept. 24 in Week 3 at Gillette Stadium followed by division-rival Tennessee at home on Oct. 1 in Week 4. In Week 6, the Texans will host the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 15 for a third straight home game.  It will mark the fourth time in team history the Texans play three straight home games in the regular season and first time since 2013.

Houston will face all four NFC West teams for the fourth time in franchise history and first time since 2013. After a bye in Week 7, the Texans will travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks on Oct. 29. In Week 10, Houston will travel to Los Angeles for the first time to take on the Rams. The Texans will then host the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 19 (Week 11) and the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 10 (Week 14) to complete their NFC West schedule.

The Texans are looking for three straight wins in Indianapolis for the first time in franchise history and travel to face the Colts in the final game of the regular season on Dec. 31. The two teams will meet in Houston on Nov. 5 in Week 9. Houston will make their annual trips to face division rivals Tennessee on Dec. 3 in Week 13 and Jacksonville on Dec. 17 in Week 15.

Primetime/National TV Notes

• The Texans will play four games on national television during the regular season. The Texans have played 30 primetime games (including Thanksgiving) in team history.
• Houston will play on NFL Network's Thursday Night Football once this season: at the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 14.
• The Texans will play on NBC's Sunday Night Football once this season: against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 8.
• Houston will play on ESPN's Monday Night Football once this season: at the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 27.
• The Texans will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, Dec. 25. The game will be broadcast on NBC, NFL Network and live-streamed on Amazon. 
• Houston's 12 primetime games from 2015-17 are the most in team history over a three-year span.

Strength of Schedule Notes

• Houston will face four of the top 10 scoring offenses from 2016: New England (third, 27.6 points per game), Arizona (sixth, 26.1), Indianapolis (eighth, 25.7) and Pittsburgh (tied for 10th, 24.9).
• The Texans also face six of the top 10 scoring defenses from 2016: New England (first, 15.6 opponent points per game), Seattle (third, 18.3), Kansas City (seventh, 19.4), Cincinnati (eighth, 19.7), Baltimore (ninth, 20.1) and Pittsburgh (tenth, 20.4).
• The Texans will play four games against teams that made the playoffs in 2016: New England (14-2), Pittsburgh (11-5), Kansas City (12-4) and Seattle (10-5-1).

Home and Away Notes

• Houston opens at home for the 12th time in 16 years. The Texans are 7-4 when opening the season at home.
• The Texans will play three straight home games this season, Weeks 4, 5 and 6 versus Tennessee, Kansas City and Cleveland. It will mark the fourth time in team history the Texans will play three straight home games during the regular season and first time since 2013.
• The Texans will play back-to-back road games twice during the season, Weeks 2 and 3 at Cincinnati and at New England and again in Weeks 12 and 13 at Baltimore and Tennessee.

AFC South Notes

• The Texans close the season against a divisional opponent for the 11th time in franchise history and the eighth year in a row.
• Houston's record against division opponents is 14-4 under Head Coach Bill O'Brien. Houston's 14 wins against the division since 2014 are tied for the most in the NFL over that span (Kansas City). 
• The Texans are 19-11 against Jacksonville, 14-16 against Tennessee and 7-23 against Indianapolis all-time.
• Under Head Coach Bill O'Brien (2014-17), the Texans are 6-0 against the Jaguars, 5-1 against the Titans and 3-3 against the Colts.
• The Texans split the series with the Titans last season: a 27-20 victory at home in Week 4 and a 24-17 loss on the road in Week 17. The Texans are looking for six consecutive wins at home against the Titans for the first time in team history.
• The Texans won both matchups with the Jaguars last season: 24-21 on the road in Week 10 and 21-20 at home in Week 15. Houston is 11-4 all-time against Jacksonville at home.
• Nine of the 15 road matchups against Jacksonville have been decided by a touchdown or less. Houston's eight road wins against Jacksonville are the most in franchise history against a single opponent.
• The Texans swept the season series with the Colts for the first time in franchise history in 2016. Houston is on a three-game winning streak against the Colts, its longest win streak in the series history.
• Houston's 22-17 victory against the Colts in Week 14 was its second win in Indianapolis in team history and second in a row. The Texans are looking for three straight wins in Indianapolis for the first time ever.
• The Texans beat the Colts, 26-23, in overtime at home in Week 6 last season.

 AFC North Notes

• Houston will play every team in the AFC North for the sixth time in team history.  The Texans also faced the AFC North in 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
• The Texans last regular season game against the Ravens was in Week 16 of 2014, a 25-13 victory for Houston at home. Houston has won two of the last three meetings with Baltimore.
• The Texans defeated the Bengals in Week 16 last year on a game-winning field goal by K Nick Novak. The 12-10 victory clinched the AFC South for Houston. The Texans have won five of the last six regular season meetings with the Bengals and both postseason matchups.
• The Texans and Browns last met in Week 11 of 2014, a 23-7 win for Houston on the road. Houston has won five of the last six meetings against Cleveland.
• The Texans haven't faced the Steelers since Week 7 of the 2014 season.

 NFC West Notes

• The Texans will face all four NFC West teams for the fourth time in franchise history. The Texans also faced the NFC West in 2005, 2009 and 2013.
• The Texans have not faced the Cardinals during the regular season since Week 10 of 2013.
• The Texans and Rams last met in Week 6 of 2014. The Week 10 matchup this season is the Texans first-ever game in Los Angeles against the Rams.  
• Houston last faced Seattle in Week 4 of the 2013 season and San Francisco in Week 5 that year.
