HOUSTON – Houston Texans K Ka'imi Fairbairn has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the NFL announced today.
Fairbairn connected on all six of his field goal attempts (51, 48, 29, 43, 44, 43) in Houston's 38-30 victory in Week 18, including a 43-yard game-winning field goal with 12 seconds remaining to give the Texans a 32-30 lead. His six field goals brought his season total to 44, tying David Akers (2011) for the most field goals made in a single season in NFL history.
Fairbairn also tied Randy Bullock for the most field goals made (six) in a single game in franchise history and tied for the most made field goals by any NFL kicker this season. Fairbairn's 20 points (six field goals, two extra points) stand as the most in a single game in franchise history and was tied for the second-most by any player in the NFL this season, trailing only Ravens RB Derrick Henry (24 points on 12/27/25). He is the only NFL player to connect on five field goals of at least 40 yards in a single game this season.
The Hawaii native finished the season making 44-of-48 field goal attempts (91.7%) and 28-of-28 extra point attempts (100%), setting single-season franchise records in field goals made (44) and points scored (160). Since entering the league in 2017, Fairbairn has made 255 field goals, the most of any player in the NFL. He also ranks first in field goals made of 50-plus yards (51) over that span.
This marks Fairbairn's fifth career AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor and his first since Week 5 of the 2024 season. With P Tommy Townsend earning the award in Week 17 and CB Derek Stingley Jr. winning in Week 16, it marks the first time in franchise history that Texans players have earned AFC Player of the Week three times in a row in the same season.
