By The Numbers | Texans at Patriots

Over 250 years ago, Paul Revere made his ride through Boston/New England, screaming "The British are coming! The British are coming!" Well, this week for the New England people, the Texans are coming and are ready for the Divisional Round of the playoffs in Foxboro. Let's dive into The Numbers for this matchup.

  • 2 - This is my favorite number of the day. Sheldon Rankins had a second Scoop n Score TD on Monday night, which tied him in total TDs with Vikings All-World WR Justin Jefferson in 2025. Both players had two TDs in the 2025 season. That's amazing.
  • 7 - This will be the Texans seventh Divisional round playoff game in the history of the franchise.
  • 1 - The Texans have won one time in Foxboro, last year in October, 41-24.
  • 3 - The Texans have also won three out of four against the Patriots, dating back to a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Patriots in 2019. The Texans then won again in the COVID year, but lost at NRG Stadium in 2021. The third win of the four contests came at Gillette Stadium last year as noted above.
  • 0 - No team since 1950 has made a Conference title game after starting the season 0-3. The Texans have an opportunity on Sunday to become the only team to ever do that in the Super Bowl era.
  • 112 - Texans rookie RB Woody Marks ran for 100+ yards for the first time in his career against the Steelers last Monday night.
  • 119 - However, it was not his highest total yardage mark for the season. Strangely, he didn't catch a pass against Pittsburgh, so he finished with 112 yards of total offense against Pittsburgh. Against Tennessee in week four, he had 69 yards rushing and 50 yards receiving for a career high of 119 yards of total offense.
  • 144 - Texans WR Christian Kirk set a team record for receiving yards in a playoff game, but that's been par for the course for Kirk. In four playoff games in his career, he's averaging over seven catches a game for over 81 yards per game and has three total touchdowns.
  • 5 - Since DeMeco Ryans took over in 2023, the Texans have played three Wildcard round games. In those three games, the Texans DEFENSE has scored FIVE touchdowns.
    • Cleveland in 2023
      • Steven Nelson pick six
      • Christian Harris pick six
    • Los Angeles in 2024
      • Eric Murray pick six
    • Pittsburgh in 2025
      • Sheldon Rankins Scoop n Score
      • Calen Bullock pick six v. Pittsburgh in 2025
  • 6 - The two touchdowns for the defense on Monday night gave the Texans six for the season.
    • Will Anderson grand slam v. Seattle
    • Rankins Scoop n Score v. Jacksonville
    • Derek Stingley Jr. pick six v. Las Vegas
    • Tommy Togiai Scoop n Score v. Indianapolis
    • Sheldon Scoop n Score, Calen Bullock pick six v. Pittsburgh

Okay, that's going to do for this week. See y'all from snowy Foxboro! GO TEXANS!
