Keenum, Savage to get 2nd team 'O' reps

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the starting quarterback. Head coach Bill O'Brien said so during OTAs, so Case Keenum and rookie Tom Savage have battled for the backup job. Keenum's gotten the second team reps during training camp.

On Saturday night at Arizona, O'Brien said both Keenum and Savage will get work in with the second team offense. But he wouldn't specify how much time they'd get, and also didn't say how long Fitzpatrick will remain in the game after starting.

"I wouldn't say we give him more or less time. we go into the game saying 'Look: we want to see

these things,'" O'Brien said Thursday. "At some point in time, he'll come out of the game, because we've got to get the other two guys a look too."

While O'Brien wouldn't say he was totally satisfied with the quarterback position's performance through the first two weeks of camp, he was pleased in other ways.

"We've asked a lot of them," O'Brien said. "We've put a lot on their plate. To that point, I'm very satisfied with the time they've put in. Now I'd like to see them go out there and play a solid game."

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Glendale, AZ. O'Brien ruled running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson out for the preseason opener against the Cardinals.
