2021 Mock Draft Survey, 3.0: Experts predict help on defense

Defensive help is on the way for Houston... according to the Mock Drafters.

Three weeks from tonight, the Texans will finally be on the clock. Houston owns the 67th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, and based on what the more notable mock drafts are predicting, a defensive player will be chosen.

Countless media outlets have mock drafts predicting the first round, but very few have mock drafts that predict into the third round. The Texans dealt their 2020 and 2021 first round selections, as well as their 2021 second-rounder to Miami in a 2019 deal for left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Houston won't pick until the second day of the Draft in round three.

Of the 10 more notable mock drafts that have three rounds or more, seven had Houston going with a defender. Iowa defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon was the only player who more than one mock drafter had the Texans taking. Three mock drafters had a d-lineman headed to Houston, three more had the Texans taking a cornerback, and one had a linebacker coming to town.

The first round of the Draft begins Thursday, April 29 in Cleveland, Ohio.
