The Texans don't face the Kansas City Chiefs annually, but it's darn close. These two teams have faced one another ten times in the last 10 seasons, playoffs included, and will lock horns for the 11th time since 2015. So, with a ton on the line again in this December matchup, let's dive into the numbers for this Texans-Chiefs Sunday Night contest.
2 - In those ten meetings that I discussed earlier, the Texans have won just twice - 2016 at home and the 2019 regular season at Arrowhead.
2 - The Texans have won just twice AT Arrowhead Stadium since their inception - the 2019 win and back in 2004 with a three point win. They have met the Chiefs seven times at Arrowhead, winning just those two times.
16 - The Texans held the Colts, the number one offense in football, to their lowest point output in the 2025 season. That 16 point output was four points lower than any other total for the Colts in 2025.
795 - Texans WR Nico Collins has registered his third highest yardage total in his career, but if he just stays on pace…
1157 - …he'll reach his second highest total in a season. He needs to get to nearly 1300 yards (1,298 to be exact) to top his career season-high.
59 - With 59 receptions, Texans TE Dalton Schultz is tied for third in the NFL for receptions for a tight end. Ironically, he's tied with the TE on the other sideline that we'll see, yet again - Kansas City's Travis Kelce.
12.2 - Although many have carried forward the narrative that Kelce is not what he used to be, he's averaging 12.2 yards per catch, 2nd in the NFL for a tight end with more than 40 catches (Patriots' Hunter Henry is first with 13.6 yards per catch).
4.5 - During the Texans' four game winning streak, rookie WR Jayden Higgins has averaged four and a half catches per game. Two games of five grabs (Jacksonville & Indy) and two games of four receptions (Buffalo & Tennessee) have given him 18 catches in four games for 200 yards and two TD.
13 - In the eight games prior to this four game winning streak, Higgins had a TOTAL of just 13 catches. He had five more than that total in just the last four games.
3 - Three Texans rookies will be returning to their hometown of Kansas City for this matchup - WR Jaylin Noel, OT Aireontae Ersery and QB Graham Mertz.
5 - The Chiefs have five AFC titles since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting QB in 2018. They've won the AFC West every single year in his career, but if the Texans beat the Chiefs and the Broncos beat the Raiders in Las Vegas, there will be a new AFC West Champion for the first time since 2015 when the Broncos won the division and then won the Super Bowl. The Chargers can still catch the Broncos, but the Chiefs won't with a Texans win and a Broncos win.
*As an aside, neither the Chargers nor the Raiders have won the AFC West since 2009 when the Chargers won back-to-back as the San Diego Chargers.
