It's time to face the Jacksonville Jaguars for the second time in 2025. As such, let's dive into the numbers of this matchup.
- 2 - Texans QB C.J. Stroud left last week's game with a concussion and will miss this one against Jacksonville as a result. QB Davis Mills will try to improve on his 2-1 record as starting QB against Jacksonville. He led the Texans to a win in his rookie campaign in 2021 and a September 2022 victory as well.
- 4 - They've lost two games at NRG Stadium by a combined four points.
- 37 - The two games that they won at NRG Stadium were by a combined 37 points.
- 9 - The Texans are ninth in the entire NFL in point differential, sitting at +47.
- 8 - The Jaguars haven't swept a season series with the Texans in eight years, 2017 to be exact.
- 2 - With QB Trevor Lawrence at the helm, the Jaguars have won two of the last three contests at NRG Stadium (2022 & 2023)
- 64 - The Jaguars are 25th in the league in red zone TD percentage, giving up TDs in the red zone at a 64% clip. Compare that to the Broncos 40%, 1st in the NFL…and the Broncos were 3-3 with stops once the Texans reached the red zone.
- 67 - The Texans defense is right behind the Jaguars at 26th in the league, giving up a TD at a 67% clip in the red zone.
- 2 - Trevor Lawrence has faced the Texans nine times in his career. He has completed more than 62% of his passes just twice (2022 at NRG, 2023 in Duval County). Likewise, he has thrown for over 300 yards just twice in those nine starts.
- 0 - Lawrence hasn't thrown a TD against the Texans since the 2024 matchup at NRG Stadium. In those two matchups, he combined for NO TDs and two interceptions. (Note: he was knocked out of the 2nd 2024 matchup in the second quarter). In all, Lawrence has thrown ten interceptions to the Texans to seven TDs to his Jaguars in his nine starts v. Houston.
- 4 - In the last four matchups against the Jaguars, Nico Collins has registered 100+ yards in each matchup
- 2025 (@ Jax) - eight for 104 yards and a touchdown
- 2024 (@ Jax) - eight for 119 yards
- 2024 (Home v. Jax) - 12 for 151 yards and a touchdown
- 2023 (Home v. Jax) - nine for 104 yards and a touchdown
I said this earlier this week and as the week has transpired, it's that much more true - this is a "Circle the Wagons" game for the good guys. The Texans need one heck of a TEAM effort to get a win at home against the Jaguars. See ya on Sunday, everyone!
