By The Numbers | Texans vs Niners

Finally.

The Texans finally come home after a trip to Baltimore, a bye week and a trip to Seattle for a LATE MNF contest with the Seahawks. However, it doesn't get any easier as the 5-2 San Francisco 49ers come calling at noon on Sunday. Let's dive into the numbers for this game right here.

  • 4 - In the past two seasons, starting in 2024, the Texans have played five noon CST games at NRG Stadium. They won four of those.
  • 5 - The 49ers and Texans have played just five times in their history.
  • 1 - The Texans have beaten the Niners just once and that happened in 2009 at NRG Stadium 24-21. The Texans offense was coordinated by Kyle Shanahan, who is now the 49ers head coach. 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was a Texans assistant LB coach. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans had six tackles as a starting linebacker for the Texans.
  • 67 - In the five contests against the Niners, the Texans have scored a shade over 13 points per game, including just a sole touchdown in the last contest back in the 2021 season out in Santa Clara.
  • 53 - 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is THIRD in the NFL in receptions. He's just five behind leader Ja'Marr Chase and one behind Rams star Puka Nacua.
  • 516 - In yardage, he's eighth in the league, but remember he's a RUNNING BACK! It's wild how much of the Niners offense goes through CMC23.
  • 3 - Texans rookie RB Woody Marks has three total touchdowns on the season, including two through the air.
  • 98 - Texans TE Dalton Schultz nearly registered 100 yards receiving on Monday Night with his nine catches. His 98 receiving yards were the second most of his career. His highest total was the 130 receiving yards he had in the all-timer of a win over Tampa Bay in 2023.
  • 54 - In his three and a half years in the NFL, Derek Stingley Jr. has 13 interceptions and 41 passes defensed. Amazing numbers for the Texans star CB.
  • 1 - Texans star edge rusher Will Anderson Jr completed the pass rusher grand slam on Monday Night. He came up with a sack, strip fumble, fumble recovery AND touchdown all on the same play. His touchdown was the first in his NFL career.
  • 1 - Texans veteran DL Denico Autry returned to the Texans lineup with a flourish. He had ONE sack. He had ONE TFL. He had ONE QB hit. He had ONE blocked field goal. Man, that blocked field goal was enormous right before the end of the half.
  • 4 - The Texans generated four takeaways in their Monday Night Football loss to Seattle. That's the most the Texans have generated in any game this season.

Alright, that's going to do it for this week. Time to get a win at home and play some quality TEXANS SWARM football. See y'all on Sunday, everyone!
