Hopkins on Deshaun Watson: We can be the best

Chills.

That's how DeAndre Hopkins describes his feelings when he thinks about his seven games with Deshaun Watson last year.

"Honestly, I feel like I set the standard high for myself and him," Hopkins said Wednesday. "So, I think we can be the best in this league. I think he can be the best quarterback. I know I can be the best wide receiver, and that's our mindset coming into the season."

Hopkins caught seven of his 13 touchdown passes from the rookie quarterback last season, finishing first in the NFL and setting a franchise record in receiving touchdowns. Will Fuller V also caught seven touchdown passes from Watson, doing so in just three games. Watson set league records for the most passing touchdowns (19) through a player's first seven career games in NFL history until an ACL injury abruptly ended his extraordinary rookie campaign.

Now in OTAs, Watson and Hopkins are reunited on the field again. While the Texans starting quarterback is not participating in team drills, limited to just individual and 7-on-7 action, Hopkins does not mind. The All-Pro receiver knows what lies ahead once Watson is cleared to return.

"I have two other guys throwing me the ball, three other guys including Joe (Webb III) today," Hopkins said. "So, those guys have played in this system. It's not going to be the same timing, but I can still get better and we can still work on things, but as soon as Deshaun (Watson) gets out here, we're at it."
