HS Coach of the Week: Week 2

Head coach David Smith of Klein Oak High School won this week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award.

This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to head coach David Smith of Klein Oak High School. Coach Smith's Panthers dominated rival Klien Forest High School behind three defensive touchdowns. The Panthers offensive attack was led by running back Ossam Cook who rushed for 145 yards on 17 carries. This week the Panthers take on division rival Klein.

This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week award goes to head coach Keeath Magee of Houston Westbury High School. Westbury, led offensively by running back Charles Sims, defeated perennial power Yates 29-18. Sims finished the game with 171 yards on 22 caries and 1 reception for 30 yards. He also accounted for all 4 touchdowns for Westbury. Westbury will play Sharpstown this Thursday.

Klein Oaks High School and Houston Westbury High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Smith and coach Magee will also be invited to a Texans home game later on in the season and will be recognized at the Texans High School Coach of the Year Banquet after the season. Fox Sports Net Houston and the US Army are associate sponsors of the Texans Coach of the Week Program.
