HS Coach of the Week: Week 6

Madison's Ray Seals and Sharpstown's Gary Gutierrez were named Texans High School Coach of the Week Award winners in Week 6.

This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Ray Seals of Madison High School. The Marlins (3-3) improved to 2-1 in district with a 48-45 upset victory over Westside. Madison quarterback Jeffrey Lewis, who had four scores on 155 yards rushing and 95 yards passing, secured the win with a 35-yard touchdown run with less than a minute remaining in the game.

This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Gary Gutierrez of Sharpstown High School. Coach Gutierrez' Apollos (5-1) downed Davis 21-13, equaling the school's highest win total since 2001. Sharpstown's Steven Battle ran a fake field goal for an 8-yard touchdown run on the final play of the game for the win.

Madison High School and Sharpstown High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Seals and Coach Gutierrez will also be invited to the Texans vs. Saints game on November 18 and will be recognized at the Texans High School Coach of the Year Banquet after the season. Fox Sports Net Houston and the US Army are associate sponsors of the Texans Coach of the Week Program.
