HS Coach of the Week: Week 8

MacArthur's Jerry Drones and Smiley's Lionell Crawford were named the Texans High School Coach of the Week Award winners.

This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Jerry Drones of MacArthur High School. The Generals (3-5) upset Nimitz 21-10 behind tough defense and two third quarter touchdowns to stay in the playoff picture. MacArthur running back Isaac Lewis paced the offense with 111 rushing yards and one score.

This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Lionell Crawford of Smiley High School. Coach Crawford's Golden Eagles (6-2) defeated C.E. King, 22-21, scoring a fourth quarter touchdown to win the nail-biter. Smiley running back Alijah Cornett's 114 yards and one touchdown led the way for the offense.

MacArthur High School and Smiley High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Drones and Coach Crawford will also be invited to the Texans vs. Saints game on November 18 and will be recognized at the Texans High School Coach of the Year Banquet after the season. Fox Sports Net Houston and the US Army are associate sponsors of the Texans Coach of the Week Program.
