HS Coach of the Week: Week 9

Eisenhower's Darryl Phipps and St. Pius' Robin Kirk were named the Texans High School Coach of the Week Award winners.

This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Darryl Phipps of Eisenhower High School. The Eagles (6-3, 6-0) downed Aldine, 49-14, to clinch the district title after finishing last season 3-7. Eisenhower running backs Curtis McGregor (191 yds. on 21 carries) and Jamarcus Walker (111 yds. on 15 carries) each scored a pair of touchdowns to pace the Eagles.

This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Robin Kirk of St. Pius High School. Coach Kirk's Panthers (8-1) beat St. Michaels, 64-26, and have lost just once in the past 21 games. St. Pius quarterback Billy Noonan continues to impress, going nine for 14 for 220 yards and five touchdowns.

Eisenhower High School and St. Pius High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Phipps and Coach Kirk will also be invited to the Texans vs. Saints game on November 18 and will be recognized at the Texans High School Coach of the Year Banquet after the season. Fox Sports Net Houston and the US Army are associate sponsors of the Texans Coach of the Week Program.
