Kubiak discusses team morale following loss

The day after a disappointing 34-3 to San Francisco, head coach Gary Kubiak addressed questions about team morale following a three-game losing streak.

"Obviously, we're all disappointed because we're having to overcome way too much," Kubiak said. "But I do have a belief that it can be fixed and get corrected and get headed in the right direction. That's part of our jobs."

Kubiak was not concerned about eventually losing the support of the locker room if he does not make a change at starting quarterback. Schaub threw three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown on the Texans' opening drive in San Francisco.

Kubiak did reveal that each player, including the quarterback, would be evaluated this week heading into Sunday's game against St. Louis.

"I have a responsibility to everybody. Every player on the team has to do their job to maintain a position and continue to play," Kubiak said Monday. "That's the quarterback as well. Our players on our team, they come in here and watch the film. They know what's going on. They know what players are doing."

With a 2-3 record, the Texans will host St. Louis on Sunday after losing three-straight games. Kubiak hopes to "set a course" in this week's preparation to get back on track and regain confidence.

"Well, I think it's a huge game," Kubiak said of this week's matchup. "It would be big either way, but, yeah, it's big because of what we've gone through these past three weeks. I see a group of guys that are very close, very committed to each other, very hurt. We had a long ride home last night. The only way you fix those things is you go back and play and do things better. I can't wait for that opportunity to get here."
