Rookie diary: Keeping up with Jones

EDITOR'S NOTE: Wide receiver Jacoby Jones is providing a weekly diary entry for HoustonTexans.com to provide fans insight into his thoughts during his rookie season in the NFL.

Like I said last week, my hometown team's coming to town on Sunday. For me, it's like playing the Cowboys or the Texans-Cowboys. I've got like a busload of people coming down, so it'll be something exciting; a whole bunch of my family and friends will be here.

They had to do the package deal, so they're taking the bus over here. It's like 50 of them on a bus coming or something like that, and I had to get like 14 or 12 extra tickets. I didn't have to tell them to leave their Saints stuff at home, though – they already know that.

I went down to Lane College this weekend and worked out with those guys, had practice with them. I went to the game, we played in Atlanta against Clark-Atlanta, and watched them play. They actually won, but one of my friends broke my single-season catch record which was 70 in a season. So he broke that record, but I couldn't be upset – I was happy for him, man. He worked hard for it. Other than that, I just saw a whole lot of people, whole lot of friends this weekend.

Being at practice again, that's a big plus that we have Andre Johnson back. Like I've said before, that's more fire with the weapons, man. Now we can learn from him physically again instead of just mentally.

If my role gets reduced or anything like that with him back, that doesn't bother me at all. Like I always say, I'm a role player. Wherever they put me, I'm fine. I just want to do everything I can to have a big game and help this team beat the Saints.
