Rookie diary: Keeping up with Jones

EDITOR'S NOTE: Wide receiver Jacoby Jones* is providing a weekly diary entry for HoustonTexans.com to provide fans insight into his thoughts during his rookie season in the NFL.*

It was hard not to play last Sunday. I mean, I won't say I was disappointed, but it was frustrating because everyone wants to play the game. But everything happens for a reason. I think it was a good call; the coaches probably thought it was the right decision.

I thought I was going to be a little more involved because I practiced the whole week, but like I said, that wasn't my decision and the way the game worked out, it just didn't happen. Watching that game with Jacksonville never punting, that was very frustrating. I couldn't stand being on the sidelines like that when they got to third-and-long but didn't ever punt the ball.

I'm hungry for a punt return now. I haven't touched one in a minute, so I'll be anxious when I finally do. I'll be trying my best to top the last return I had - I didn't get in the end zone on that one. I've got to do it one better.

I'm 100 percent this week. I'm ready to go, ready to ride. I've been getting more involved in practice – more touches – and should be more involved as a receiver. I think I'll return some kicks, too. No matter what, though, it just feels good to be healthy. Whenever Andre gets back and I get back, that's a lot more weapons in the fire for this offense. A lot more weapons.

This week we've just got the mindset to bounce back and get a 'W,' any way how, any way possible. Everything going on with Vince Young coming back to Houston, I heard about that as soon as I got drafted, man. I mean, people love Vince, but of course - he's a hometown hero. He's a great athlete.

But we're still going to play our game and try to get a victory. It doesn't bother me when people cheer for him, not at all. I've just got to go out there and get them cheering not only for me, but for our team instead. It's a division game, and like I said, we're just going to do everything we can to get a 'W.'
