The Texans and our partners have worked together to create free educational resources and programs to help students across the Houston area. These programs utilize football to bring a little extra fun to classrooms across the city and are available at no cost to teachers and parents in Houston and beyond and can be done in the classroom or at home.
HISD Attend to Win Presented by Reliant
Attend to Win was a partnership between the Texans, Reliant Energy and the Houston Independent School District (HISD) to encourage HISD virtual students to log in and learn. Campuses that had high attendance each week during the fall semester were selected to win prizes from the Texans and Reliant. The program directly affected 38 HISD schools and 6,846 students, and 44% of HISD campuses improved or maintained their 2019–2020 attendance. The Texans and Reliant provided $20,000 in grants to HISD schools that achieved high attendance for the week, as well as autographed jerseys, autographed footballs and 20 virtual pop-ins by Cheerleaders, TORO and players totaling $104,213 in donations.
Reliant Scholarship for Champions
Each year, Reliant teams up with the Texans to award scholarships to Houston-area high school student-athletes who have exhibited remarkable leadership on the field, in the classroom and throughout the community. This year, six student-athletes received $10,000 each, totaling $60,000 in scholarships. Since the scholarships program was created in 2005, 108 scholarships have been awarded, totaling more than $560,000. The scholarships were celebrated with a field day and check presentation for the recipients.
Houston Texans Enrichment Zone at the Houston Zoo
With a gift of $350,000 in 2016, the Texans established the Houston Texans Enrichment Zone at the Houston Zoo. The space features interactive signage with players and TORO and has plenty of seating for kids and families to watch the educational show "TORO's Training Camp," performed daily, and to enjoy Keeper Talks and conservation education programs. In 2020, 58 shows were performed for 2,151 guests.
Educator NFL Draft Experience
The Texans 2021 NFL Draft Inner Circle in Cleveland was comprised of dedicated Texans Season Ticket Members hand-selected out of hundreds of nominations. The winners were all teachers who were fully vaccinated. Each Season Ticket Member received a free trip to the NFL Draft in Cleveland and was a part of exclusive experiences.

Houston ISD Educator of the Year
The Texans provided custom jerseys to the winner and finalists for the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Educator of the Year. These 15 outstanding educators were honored by the district and received the jersey in a ceremony in their honor.
Stats Challenge Presented by Schlumberger
The Stats Challenge, developed in partnership with Region 4 Education Service Center, is an interactive math program that gives sixth-grade students the opportunity to improve their math skills through the game of football. The winners of the student essay contest were joined by DB Michael Thomas and Legend Wade Smith for a private virtual meet-and greet. This year, nearly 75,000 students and more than 850 teachers and parents throughout the region took part in the program.
TORO'S Math Drills Presented by Conoco Phillips
TORO's Math Drills is an educational video series designed to help third and fourth graders tackle math through fun football examples. Created in partnership with the United Way of Greater Houston, TORO's Math Drills covers subjects like fractions, multiplication and division, place value and money. In 2020, over 2,100 teachers and parents and nearly 150,000 students across 16 states and two countries took part in the program.
TORO'S Reading Challenge
TORO challenged kids to read for 30 minutes a day for 30 days in 2020. This free program provided a reading log, weekly activities to keep kids motivated and even live readings from a Cheerleader, Legend Wade Smith and Voice of the Texans Marc Vandermeer. The Texans provided weekly prizes for those who participated in the program and had 627 parents participate.
TORO Takes the Bull Out of Bullying Presented by NOV
October is National Bully Prevention Month, which inspired a month-long campaign on the Texans and TORO's social media channels to educate on this topic. The campaign started with the launch of a virtual version of TORO's educational school assembly, TORO Takes the BULL Out of Bullying, which was viewed by students all over Texas. During the show, RB David Johnson and Cheerleader Jaclyn taught students how to identify and deal with bullying. Throughout the rest of the campaign, TORO shared infographics, PSA videos and activities. This program was developed in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League. The campaign reached over 250,000 people in October. The Texans and NOV also donated $2,500 to the Sam Houston Area Council Scout Reach program and awarded 1,000 patches to Boy Scouts across Houston for completing the TORO Takes the BULL Out of Bullying virtual program.
