2018 PLAY 60 Week

PLAY 60 Week kicked off with PLAY 60 at the Park which featured an afternoon of fun-filled activities to keep children active and promote 60 minutes of exercise. Texans players Dylan Cole and Alfred Blue along with Texans Ambassador Kevin Walker, TORO, and Texans Cheer all came out to promote kids to PLAY 60. When guests checked in upon arrival, they received a PLAY 60 at the Park Activity Passport, which they used to log all physical activities, such as Hula Hoops, Touchdown Celebration, Fuel Up to Play 60, Toss Up and Texans Says. Completed Activity Passports were entered into a drawing to win two tickets to watch the Texans face off against the Indianapolis Colts in the Kids Day – A Celebration of PLAY 60 game presented by Texas Children’s Hospital.

On Day 2, the Texans celebrated the students of Piney Point Elementary School for their win in the PLAY 60 Challenge presented locally by Texas Children’s Hospital. The school was awarded a $5,000 grant to purchase sports equipment for physical education courses and after-school programs. After that brief program, the students at Piney Point played for 60 minutes with Texans players Sammie Coates and Jordan Thomas with special guest appearances from Texans ambassador Wade Smith and the best mascot in the NFL, TORO.

Tuesday, continued:

After a fun visit to Piney Point Elementary, the Texans moved PLAY 60 Week to the incredible patients of Texas Children’s Hospital. Patients were invited to enjoy fun football themed activities and giveaways on the playground in celebration of PLAY 60 and Kids Day! Special guests TORO, Texans Cheer and Texans Players – Greg Mancz and Julie’n Davenport joined in on the fun to play, take pictures, get autographs and create memorable experiences.

The new & improved Get Fit with TORO school assembly, now featuring activity stations with students to get them moving and teach skills to show them how easy it is to PLAY 60 every day, made its way to McFee Elementary! Students were motivated to get active in order to unlock a secret surprise, which ended up being jump ropes for everyone, thanks to Texas Children's Hospital!

The PLAY 60 Kid of the Month winners received an exclusive tour of NRG Stadium, which included a fun radio interview with Marc Vandermeer, PLAY 60 games on the Texans field with TORO and lunch. The winners were selected from their PLAY 60 entry and photo for being an active example to others.

TORO helped celebrate Breakfast in the Classroom with the students of Sutton Elementary. Fuel Up to Play 60 ambassadors took TORO around different classrooms to show kids the importance of fueling with healthy foods and the benefits of being active for 60 minutes every day.
