HOUSTON – Noted Houston attorney Chris Hanslik will become the chairman of the AdvoCare Texas Bowl Board, bowl organizers announced today.
Hanslik is Chairman of BoyarMiller, a Houston-based law firm providing business and litigation services. He will succeed philanthropist Philamena Baird, who has chaired the board since 2011. Hanslik is known for his willingness to step up and do whatever it takes to make his peers, clients and community successful. He has been involved in numerous charitable endeavors throughout the Houston area including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Taste of the Texans, Greater Houston Partnership and SEARCH Homeless Services, where he most recently chaired the 2013 annual luncheon that raised more than $525,000 for the cause.
"I am deeply honored to serve as the chair of The AdvoCare Texas Bowl Board and am very proud of the great work we do for our community and, specifically, DePelchin Children's Center," Hanslik said. "This is an exciting time for college football in Houston as we have one of the marquee Labor Day games in the country and our bowl game begins its new Big12/SEC affiliation. Football has been an important part of my life so being able to increase the awareness of these two games while giving back to our community is a perfect fit."

Hanslik is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the State Bar's Administration of Rules of Evidence Committee, a member of the South Texas College of Law Alumni Board of Directors, and an inaugural member of Smart Litigator's Texas Board. Hanslik played football at Southern Methodist University and earned his JD from South Texas College of Law.
AdvoCare Texas Bowl
The AdvoCare Texas Bowl is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, and managed locally by Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and will showcase teams from Big 12 and the SEC, two of the country's premier conferences, for the next six years. The AdvoCare Texas Bowl has been a tremendous success both on and off the field over its first seven years. The bowl has generated an average of $30 million per year for the Houston economy and has donated over $600,000 and over $12 million in promotional support and publicity to DePelchin Children's Center, the bowl's official charitable beneficiary.
