Texans at Jaguars on September 21 | By The Numbers

For the first time in 2025, the Texans will face an AFC opponent. Also, for the first time in 2025, the Texans will face a divisional opponent. The Jacksonville Jaguars are lying in wait in Duval County for the arrival of the Texans. As such, let's dive deep into the numbers for this matchup.

  • 11 - The Texans have not lost an AFC South road game since a loss to Indianapolis in 2021. The Texans lost at Indianapolis on October 17th, 2021. Then, on November 21st, 2021, the Texans upset the soon to be number one AFC seed Tennessee Titans and haven't lost a divisional road game since. Looking for a true dozen with a win over Jacksonville on Sunday.
  • 3 - This streak has continued through three different head coaches for the Texans - David Culley, Lovie Smith and DeMeco Ryans.
  • 4 - The Texans have started 0-2 four times since 2014 and twice in the last two years.
  • 3 - Over that same time span, the Texans started the year 0-2 in 2015, 2018 and 2023. Each of those years, the Texans won the AFC South, finishing 9-6, 11-5 and 10-7, respectively.
  • 3 - The Texans have scored three offensive touchdowns in a game just one time since the win over the Patriots in Foxboro on October 13th, 2024.
  • 1 - Since beating the Colts on October 27th, 2024, the Texans have won just one home regular season game at NRG Stadium. That win was over the Miami Dolphins.
  • 4 - They've played five regular season games at NRG Stadium since the win over the Colts and lost four of those (Titans, Lions, Ravens and Bucs). Thankfully, this one, this one time, is on the road.
  • 9 - The Texans have played the Jaguars in Duval County ten times since the 2014 season and won nine of them. The last loss at The Bank was in 2017 when the Jaguars clinched the AFC South division in a big win over the Texans.
  • 10 - The Texans have ten wins out of the last 11 road matchups against the Jaguars. The 2019 contest took place in Wembley Stadium in London where the Texans are 1-0 in their franchise history.
  • 0 - The Jaguars don't have a player on the roster that has beaten the Texans in Jacksonville.
  • 2 - There will be two Heisman Trophy winners in the building on Sunday. Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter was the 2024 winner and our pal doing game analysis/Houston Cougar legend Andre Ware won in 1989.
  • 101.5 - Texans edge rusher extraordinaire Danielle Hunter racked up two sacks against the Bucs on Monday Night. That pushed his total over 100, just 46th, officially. Sacks weren't an official stat until 1982, so many including Deacon Jones et al are not "officially" included in that grouping. The unofficial number is number 67 for Danielle. The kids just got a kick out of that one.
  • 0 - However, the last time down in Duval County, the Jaguars held the Texans without a sack. None for Danielle. None for Will Anderson Jr. None for anyone. Time to change that on Sunday.
  • Alright, time to pack up and get ready to fly to Jacksonville to get a big win this weekend. Time to get off the schneid and win number 12 in a row on the road in the division. See ya on Sunday, everyone!!
