Texans share a few notable connections with New York Jets

The Texans and New York Jets enter their Week 12 matchup with identical 2-8 records. It's the first meeting between the two squads since a December showdown in 2018, in which Houston was victorious. The Texans have taken the last three matchups in the series.

The franchises have numerous connections, and we highlighted a few of the more notable ones below.

  • There are several former Jets now playing for the Texans, including LB Neville Hewitt (2018-20), DL Jordan Jenkins (2016-20), LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (2018) and DB Terrance Brooks (2017-18).
  • The Jets, meanwhile, have a few former Texans on their squad now as well. TE Ryan Griffin (2013-18) and WR Vyncint Smith (2018) played regular-season games for Houston.
  • Texans Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Pep Hamilton was an Offensive Assistant/ Quarterbacks Coach with the Jets in 2004 and 2005.
  • Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh was a Defensive Assistant with the Texans from 2005 through 2010.
  • Jets Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach John Benton was an Offensive Line Coach in Houston from 2006 through 2013.
  • Jets Senior Defensive Assistant /Cornerbacks Coach Tony Oden was a Defensive Assistant with the Texans in 2004 and 2005.
  • Texans TE Antony Auclair and Jets OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif are both from Quebec, Canada.
  • Jets P Braden Mann was born and raised in Houston and played high school football at Cy-Fair.
