Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was named the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week for his performance in the team's 34-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts, the NFL announced today.

Foster ran for a team-record 231 yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries in the Week 1 victory at Reliant Stadium.

Foster was selected from among six finalists in the Air and Ground categories. The other FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week finalists were quarterbacks Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and David Garrard of the Jacksonville Jaguars and running backs Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans and Rashard Mendenhall of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cutler was named the FedEX Air NFL Player of the Week.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities. Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players' names to the local Safe Kids USA coalitions in Houston and Chicago to support pedestrian safety improvements.

During the week leading up to Super Bowl XLV, FedEx plans to announce the 2010 FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year in North Texas.
