Houston Texans launch updated 2012 mobile app

 
 
HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have launched a new version of the official Texans Mobile app, which is available for free on iPhone, Android and most BlackBerry devices (see full list below).

Texans Mobile, presented by Verizon, now offers fans live streaming audio of all Texans Radio programming on SportsRadio 610. This encompasses 16.5 hours per week of content during the regular season, in addition to nine hours of gameday coverage starting this preseason. During the offseason, the weekly two-hour "Texans All Access" show is available live. In addition, live streaming video of the team's postgame and post-practice press conferences is now offered on the Texans Mobile app year-round.

By Week 1 of the regular season, fans will be able to use the Texans Mobile app to download their favorite Houston Texans-themed cell phone wallpaper images. Also, fans will be able to upload their fan-centric photos via the Texans Mobile app for a chance to appear in-game on the videoboard at Reliant Stadium, as well as on HoustonTexans.com.

Verizon customers will be able to access exclusive content on the Texans Mobile app this season, including postgame recaps, Texans Cheerleader Q&A's and more.

These add-ons complement existing Texans Mobile app features, which include live score updates, team stats, a fantasy football tracker, on-demand video and podcast clips, team articles and photos, the 2012 Texans Cheerleader roster, stadium concession maps and more. For social media-savvy fans, the app features an aggregated Twitter feed with real-time updates from fans and the team and one-click social-media sharing of all photos, news and podcasts.

To download the free app, fans can text the word TEXANS to 51288 or search for "Houston Texans Mobile" in the Apple App Store, Google Play or BlackBerry App World. It also is available to download by scanning the QR code at the bottom of this message. Message and data rates may apply for the download of the app and its use.

The Texans Mobile app rose to the No. 2 ranking on the Top Free iPhone Sports Apps chart on Nov. 17, 2011. Michael Garfield, a.k.a. The High-Tech Texan®, named it his "App of the Week" on Sept. 8, 2012, as well as on Sept. 10, 2011, during his weekly radio show on The 9-5-0. The app also was featured HERE on KHOU reporter Doug Delony's "Techcheck with Doug Delony" column on Sept. 7, 2012.
