- The Houston Texans have placed LB Wali Rainer on the Reserve/Injured list after he suffered a fractured ankle during Sunday morning practice at Texans training camp. To fill Rainer's spot on the roster, the Texans have signed veteran LB Saleem Rasheed.
Rasheed (6-2, 229), enters his fifth year in the NFL. He was originally drafted by the
Rasheed spent his entire career with the Niners, playing in 45 games, starting five. He has 26 career tackles and one career sack. Texans defensive coordinator Richard Smith was Rasheed's linebacker coach in 2002.
The Texans also signed CB Kevin Garrett.
Garrett (5-10, 194) hails from Brazoria
He was most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In order to make room on the roster, the Texans have released C Kelvin Chaisson.
