Texans claim 3 off waivers

HOUSTON -The Houston Texans claimed the following players off waivers: LB D.D. Acholonu, CB Eric Kelly and RB Derrick Knight.

Acholonu (6-3, 230) finished the 2003 season at Washington State with 16.5 sacks, tied for second in the NCAA. His 32.5 career sacks ranks second in Cougar history. Acholonu signed with the Buffalo Bills on April 26.

Kelly (5-10, 201) completed his third season with the Minnesota Vikings. He has three career interceptions and 161 total tackles. He was drafted in the third round from Kentucky in the 2001 NFL Draft. He was waived on June 18.

Knight (5-9, 205) led Boston College in rushing with 1,721 yards on 321 attempts in 2003. The Carolina Panthers signed Knight on April 30. He was waived on June 17.
