Texans sign FS Chris Clemons

The Houston Texans signed unrestricted free agent S Chris Clemons, it was announced today. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Clemons (6-1, 215) started 48 of the 72 games he played in for the Miami Dolphins in his first five NFL seasons, including all 16 games in 2012 and 2013. Clemons posted career-highs with 95 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery in 2012. He followed that up with 90 tackles, one interception and a career-high eight passes defensed in 2013.

The former Clemson standout was selected by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2009 draft. For his career, Clemons has totaled 256 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions, 17 passes defensed, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
