Texans sign Loverne

* HOUSTON* – The Houston Texans have agreed to a contract with free agent G David Loverne, it was announced today.

Loverne (6-3, 299) has played in 63 career games with 24 starts.  He spent the first three seasons of his career in New York after the Jets selected him in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft.  The former San Jose State Spartan also played for Washington in 2002, St. Louis in 2003 and Detroit in 2004 and 2005.

Loverne did not see action last season with the Lions and was placed on injured reserve with a torn biceps on Oct. 13, forcing him to miss the last 12 games of the year.
